Electronic Health Assessments

Electronic Health Assessments

Make Patient Workflow work for you

The Electronic Health Assessment, or EHA enables clinics to meet all the ACA, and MIPS benchmarks for every patient during a cough and cold, medication reevaluation, or other visit types other than and preventive visits.  The EHA is payable by Medicare, and commercial insurance and Medicaid in some states.

The EHA is a strategic way to obtain basic behavioral health, chronic conditions, and drug use information for each patient to determine if other factors are influencing the patient’s visit.  In addition to being a valuable tool, the EHA enables providers to earn additional revenue.  The report generated enables providers to know what needs to be counseled or labs to be performed to meet benchmark standards.

The EHA is an invaluable tool giving providers a 360-degree view of a patient’s behavioral health.  In addition, it alerts of billing opportunities earned with every patient.

Let ThoughtSwift show you how our reports can support your efforts for better patient care.

What is EHA?

ThoughtSwift Electronic Health Assessments (EHA) are designed to meet the preventative care standards of current federal mandates.  Each EHA is performed on a tablet and takes around 5 minutes to complete.  Most providers have patients complete the assessment in the exam room.  By the time the provider enters the exam room, the report has been delivered for review.  The report can be printed or sent to a HIPAA secure email.

What does it Screen for?

  • Alcohol Usage
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Tobacco use
  • Opioid risk
  • Somatic symptom severity
  • Patient and family history of drug use
  • History of ADHD
  • Schizophrenia
  • Bipolar
  • OCD

How does it work?

Patients complete assessments, usually in less than five minutes, in the waiting or exam room before being seen by the provider.  ThoughtSwift assessments are instantly scored and an easy to read color coded PDF report is sent to the provider’s email, usually in less than 2 minutes. This report highlights the mental condition of the patient in five key areas; it also reveals commonly missed counseling codes. Each report shows every question that was asked and the answer given for each question so the provider has all information need to make an accurate diagnosis.

Increase Practice Revenue

Electronic Health Assessments are billable events that are required to be paid by Medicare, all Commercial Insurance and Medicaid in some states.  The EHA increases billing for every screened patient, between $60 and $125 dollars annually. The average provider faithfully using ThoughtSwift’s Programs can see an increase in billing by over $100,000 per year, without any major capital outlay and without adding additional staff.

ThoughtSwift EHA increases or meets:

New Standard of Care

Depression and Alcohol screenings are a standard of care.  The American Medical Association, Health and Human Services and United States Preventive Task force recommends depression and alcohol screenings for all patients annually.  ThoughtSwift provides these screenings as well as others that doctors need to care for their patients in a simple and cost effective way.

Federal Mandates

MACRA laws highly incentivize providers to perform required preventive medicine. Failure to comply with MACRA/ MIPS will result in reduction in Medicare reimbursements by up to 9 percent annually.  ThoughtSwift programs help providers comply with MACRA and can even help providers increase their Medicare reimbursements.

Patient Care

In America, 27% of all patients experience mental health issues every year.  The majority of sufferers never receive treatment, even after seeing their primary care provider.   Doctors can not treat illness that they are not aware of and behavior clues are not enough to know the mental condition of the patient that they are seeing.  Practices that use ThoughtSwift behavior screening tools increase diagnosis accuracy, save time and provide more consistent patient care.

Litigation Protection

Providers are now under major scrutiny every time a prescription is written.  Overdoses are on the rise for narcotic and non-narcotic medications. Doctors must be able to show what steps were taken to understand the physical and mental condition of the patient before, during, and after treatment and justification of the medication used.  ThoughtSwift programs can help provide a shield for providers from this inquiry.
